The Improvisation Workshop (Intermediate-Advanced) is open to students ages 14-adult on any instrument/voice. Participants should have some experience playing jazz. If you'd like more clarification on if this class is a good fit, feel free to get in touch with CCJA Staff Member Annie Booth at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
Led by a professional jazz musician on CCJA's faculty (TBD), students in this workshop will focus on the elusive, effervescent, expressive element of JAZZ IMPROVISATION. Students in this course will do a lot of playing as they explore jazz improvisational techniques in melody & line construction, rhythm, call & response, group improvisation, free improvisation, and more. Students will examine the various styles of jazz improvisation throughout history and will engage in fun, educational, and dynmaic improvisational games.
This group is limited to 8 participants and is open for any instrument or voice.
Instruments such as piano, bass amps, guitar amps, drum sets, vibraphones, and auxilary percussion are provided on-site.
